Weddings Don't Have to be Stressful

I wanted to share this reply I sent to a bride who was concerned about wedding stress in case it might help others:

Happy 2023!

Thank you for all you shared. It helps in getting acquainted with each other. Weddings don’t have to be stressful. When you choose professionals to help you and set good boundaries with family and friends, weddings can be as fun and easy as the dream vision you have in your head and your heart. Everybody has an opinion to share, and it can be quite overwhelming.

The thing is — it’s YOUR wedding.

Choose professionals you like and trust, and let them guide you. We do this all the time. We care very much but are not emotionally involved, so we are clear to keep your wedding on track according to what YOU want. That is our only criteria.

You can simply smile your most mysterious smile and say to family and friends (including mothers and mothers-in-law to be), “I don’t want to spoil the wonderful surprises we’ve planned to share with our loved ones by discussing our wedding details now.” You can still share what you choose to share, or ask opinions if you want them, on a case-by-case basis.

If you are a couple dealing with “family drama” around you, don’t waste your time trying to control it. Stay focused on each other and the future you have planned. Detach with love from anyone around you who is under the dark cloud of discord by absolutely wallowing in your happiness.

Warmly,
Kathi

Jodie and Michael: November 12, 2022 at the Upchurch Wedding Venue

The historic Upchurch-Williams property in Apex, NC is a stunning setting for a wedding.

Jodie and Michael, Congratulations! You’re married!

This wonderful, heroic couple has been through tremendous challenges in the past couple of years. They are respiratory therapists and we know they worked above and beyond anything imaginable to save countless lives of people suffering from Covid-19. I am especially honored to have been chosen to serve as their wedding officiant.

Jodie and Michael had a large crowd of enthusiastic loved ones helping them celebrate their special day. I wish them every happiness, and may their well-deserved good times outweigh everything else forever!

Shanar and Brandon: November 11, 2022 at Pullen Park

Congratulations Shanar and Brandon! This beautiful couple was married on Friday, at the gazebo on the island in Pullen Park in Raleigh, NC. They exchanged their vows in a small, intimate elopement-type wedding in this very lovely spot. The love and respect they share was palpable, as was the love and support of the family and friends surrounding them on their special day.

It was an honor to serve as their wedding officiant, and I wish them a lifetime of blessings and joy!
